"A gentleman’s brogue on a woman is a nod to gender-bending, but can easily be dressed up or down to be butch or femme, for him or for her. Simply put: I don’t like casual shoes. Training shoes are for sport, not for wearing everyday. I also think my feet are too wide, hence why I prefer a shoe of thick, sturdy leather that acts like an orthopaedic corset, shaping them into the slender soles I wish they were. Suffice to say, I’m not a fan of comfort. Although, as an alternative to towering heels, the idea of non-casual comfort is the appeal of brogues for many a woman."
