SCAD MUSEUM PRESENTS KALEIDOSCOPE KATRANTZOU

Kaleidoscope Katrantzou - Mary Katrantzou 10 years in fashion

SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion and Film presents an exhibition celebrating the 10th anniversary of the designer's eponymous label.
Acclaimed for her bold colours, textures and prints, Mary expertly wields into kaleidoscopic, sculptural creations.

This retrospective of the designer's work from the past decade features iconic looks that reveal her innovative approach combining fashion, art and technology.

Known for her limitless imagination, she draws from enchanting, unexpected sources: Fabergé eggs, Bauhaus posters, postage stamps, perfume bottles and Olivetti typewriters have found their way into Mary's collections.
Featuring 180 pieces from the designer’s archive, presented on simple, glossy white mannequins in a pared-back display that allows her often astounding designs to speak for themselves.

“Digital print allows me to experiment with print in a way that fine art and other methods could not. It opens up a huge spectrum for possibility; I can create possibility out of impossibility, surrealism out of realism and both vice versa" said Mary.
The garments she produces emphasise a feminine aura and are effectively reflected in the women Katrantzou has been able to dress.
Her garments are highly sought after by fashionistas, collectors and celebrities alike, and have been worn by Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, Cate Blanchett, Lupita Nyong'o and Naomi Campbell among many others.
